Rayden Solicitors raised over £4,000 for the St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge on Thursday night at their annual quiz night at Old Albanians Rugby Club in St Albans.

Over 100 local and London based professionals had their knowledge put to the test by the entertaining drag queen, Rosie Glow, who hosted the firm’s seventh annual quiz.

The St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge was chosen by the staff at Rayden Solicitors, St Albans, in an office wide vote as their Charity of the Year 2018. The local charity offers support for women, men and children affected by domestic violence and the money raised on the evening will go directly to fund a specialist children worker.

Liz Perry from the charity said “SAHWR supports all victims of domestic abuse and their children, it has a devastating impact on all victims and their children; we offer accommodation and community support working towards  recovery and building resilience from the abuse suffered.   We are very grateful to Rayden Solicitors for supporting our work.

Her comments were echoed by Senior Partner, Katherine Rayden, who said “The refuge is a truly worthwhile cause and in raising money for the charity we are able to directly support children affected by domestic violence in St Albans and Hertsmere. We are hugely grateful to the local business community who donated items for our raffle as well as our professional network in London and Hertfordshire who came and supported this event so generously.”

The quiz was hotly contested with themes around anniversaries in March resulting in rounds on cars, aliens, Harry Potter and crickets to name just a few. The overall winners on the night were SA Law who took home the Rayden Solicitors’ cup.
