Employment Limits – Yearly Review

Every year the Government revise the various employment limits applicable to sums payable or due in an employment context. It is imperative that employers are aware of these changes to make sure that they are completely aware of the responsibilities, as well as the possible dangers they may face with regards to their employees.

The changes take effect from 6 April 2017, and the following Employment Limits that will come into force are:

• A week’s pay was £479 is now £489 (for use when calculating statutory redundancy payments and the basic award of a Tribunal claim etc.)
• An unfair dismissal claims was £78,962 and is now £80,541 or 52 weeks’ salary (whichever is lower). This is the Maximum amount of compensation that can be awarded.
