We are looking for a well-presented personal tax senior or semi senior, with excellent communication skills, to join our busy private client team.

The role

You will work as part of our private client team and play a significant part in looking after compliance matters for a portfolio of 160-180 clients.

Working closely with our private client partner, others in the private client team, and staff across the practice, your client portfolio will provide involvement with a wide range of private individuals. Clients include wealthy individuals, property owners, trusts, and professional partnerships as well as directors and shareholders of owner managed businesses.

Our client base contains many self-employed individuals, so an interest in, and experience of dealing with the preparation of self-employed accounts is useful.

You will be in direct contact with clients by email, over the phone and face-to-face, so excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Experience is the key qualification for successful candidates.

ATT qualified or looking to study towards ATT/CTA

Skills and abilities

Experience working in practice on a wide range of private client tax issues essential. Specific and recent experience in at least some of the following would be useful (in no priority or order):

  • Company directors
  • Rental accounts and expenses
  • Partnerships
  • Capital gains tax
  • Dividend and salary planning
  • PAYE coding notices
  • Benefits in kind
  • PAYE
  • Taxation of investments
  • Pensions relief
  • Sole trader accounts preparation
  • Self-employment and related advisory issues (VAT registration)

Personal skills

The role has a high level of client contact so the ability to explain tax issues clearly and confidently in a non-technical manner is important. Good organisational skills are also required as you will be working with several partners to meet the personal tax compliance needs of their clients.
