Permission to apply for a Judicial Review has been granted to St Albans City and District Council. The matter concerns a legal challenge related to the development of the Council’s Strategic Local Plan (SLP).
Once formally agreed and adopted, the SLP will form a blueprint for building development in the District until 2031.
The Council is challenging a Planning Inspector’s conclusion that it has not met its duty to co-operate with neighbouring planning authorities while drawing up its SLP.
At the oral hearing this week, the Court heard arguments both on the Council’s application for permission to apply for judicial review and on the substantive application. The Council was granted permission to apply for Judicial Review.
The Council is pleased that the judge gave permission for the substantive Judicial Review application and awaits the outcome in due course.
