A pioneering new award that promotes careful use of natural resources has been added to this year’s St Albans Food and Drink Festival.

The Green Triangle Award for Sustainability will give recognition to businesses that can show they are committed to improving the environment.

Sponsor Green Triangle is a partnership of leading research, educational and local government organisations involved in green technology. It will provide a panel of judges to decide on the winner.

Nominations for this special award opened to businesses on Monday 12 June and close on Friday 30 June. Forms are available on the festival’s web pages: www.enjoystalbans.com/sustainabilityaward

Businesses must nominate themselves by answering a series of questions about their engagement with sustainability.

These include: what does your business do to support local sustainability; ensure premises are sustainable; and encourage customers to think and act sustainably?

The award will be presented at the Food and Drink Festival’s glittering Awards Dinner on Monday 2 October.

The Food and Drink Festival runs from Wednesday 27 September to Saturday 7 October and is organised by St Albans City and District Council
